They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this is very much true. What you may find beautiful, someone else may find repulsive. It is a matter of people’s perceptions, not a matter of the object’s actual beauty. The tips in this article will help you to “alter” your perceptions a bit, to find more beauty all around you.

Always keep vitamin E around. It can be used for a multitude of beauty purposes. Vitamin E is great for keeping skin soft and supple. Vitamin E can be used on the nails to prevent cracking and special creams fortified with the vitamin will soften the cuticles.

Live in a cold, dry winter climate? Find a winter-specific conditioner for your hair to help lock in moisture and prevent that annoying static cling to EVERYTHING. Use in place of your regular conditioner as soon as you start to notice dry air and discontinue use in the spring time.

Select a curling iron, one size smaller than the curls you desire. This will help to ensure that your curls don’t get limp or fall out after you put all the work into curling them. They will be a little tight at first but after you finish, gently run your fingers through them to break them up, and then hair spray to perfection.

Put on lip balm every day. Lip balm is an essential ingredient in keeping your lips beautiful. You should apply it to your lips at night when you go to bed, and in the morning before you put any lipstick or gloss on your lips. Your lips will stay looking younger and fuller.

You could create your own mouthwash at home using a mixture of peppermint oil and purified water. For each ounce of water, add a single drop of oil. The water should be boiled first, and then you can measure the oil into a container that can hold boiling water, like ceramic or Pyrex. Next you are going to add boiling water. Use a cloth, such as a washcloth, to cover it and let it cool down. Pour into a container which has a lid. Now you have your mouthwash!

Honey is a great addition to your beauty regimen. Honey has many benefits for your skin, and not just when you consume it. When mixed with sugar, honey can be applied directly to your skin and used to exfoliate. Add some to your face lotion to keep in the moisture. Adding honey to shampoo can give you soft and shiny hair.

If your favorite color nail polish is getting empty and a bit tacky, add a few drops of nail polish remover to give it new life! You don’t have to throw away a half empty bottle of nail lacquer, just mix in a small amount of regular remover, shake well and your old polish will work like new again.

To keep your hair from tangling while you sleep, use a silk pillowcase! A silk pillowcase is gentle on your hair and will allow it to lay smoothly on the pillow as you rest. You’ll wake up with your hair looking great! If you don’t have a silk pillowcase, you can lay a silk scarf across the pillow.

When you put your lipstick on, particularly if you favor deeper tones, stick a finger into the mouth and remove it quickly, forming a circle with the lips. This helps to take away any lipstick that has gone into your mouth, which could get on your teeth, and doesn’t affect the lipstick on the outside.

If you’re in between hair dresser appointments, and need to hide some roots, use dark mascara on black or brunette hair and gold eye shadow on blond hair! Nobody is perfect and if you’ve scheduled your hair salon appointment too far in advance to save your roots from showing, brush them lightly with appropriately colored mascara or combine hair spray and blond shades of powder to conceal those roots until you can see your stylist!

Spray mist over your face after you have your makeup applied. It will set the makeup and keep it where it should be much longer. This is a great method to use when you have a long day ahead of you like if it is your wedding day or you have a night out after work planned.

The oldest and easiest beauty tricks remain the most useful. A face mask made of egg whites and the juice of a lemon is great for skin tightening. 1 Tbsp. and two egg whites are needed. After mixing, spread the mixture on your face thinly and let it set for 30 minutes before rinsing and drying. Your skin will look more youthful, bright and tightened.

To make your smile look whiter, avoid orangey or yellowish lipstick shades, which can accentuate stains and other discolorations. Stick to cool pinks, blue-reds, and plummy shades, all of which help to make your teeth look whiter, since they are cooler colors. Remember that really bright shades, no matter the tone, will draw attention to your mouth–and your teeth.

Visine should be a staple in any beauty kit. A long, tiring night can leave you with red eyes in the morning. Red, tired eyes can make you look old. Put a little Visine in your eyes to clear that up. Visine can also help clear acne too. Put a couple drops on a bad spot and allow it to dry. Both of these ideas will help you to look great everyday.

As stated at the beginning of this article, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and what one may find attractive, another may quite as easily find unattractive. It is possible to “alter” your perception a little bit, and by using the tips from this article, you should be able to open yourself up to seeing more beauty in the ordinary.
